It was important to me. I don't live in NY, but I am an American. I lost no one personally related to me, or any friends. I lost some of my fellow countryman, visitors from other countries just going about a normal day...or so they thought. Terrorists don't descriminate, they plan to kill as many people as possible.

This poll really showed how many people really don't give a crap about what happens. They make light of it and pass it along as a bother because they have to be reminded of it. Well, I apologize to anyone who feels that memorializing that day...or that remembering those poor people who died just for going about their normal day at work on that tragic morning....was a bother to people who were reminded on the news.

God forbid it ever happens on your soil. God forbid. Maybe then you will have empathy for the people and families that meet their demize at the hands of irrational religous finatics that want to kill us in the name of their God.

I see some people care here, and we should. As for the rest of you, I am just amazed at how uninterested this generation is. I'm not old, but I still think we should remember the fallen from WWII, and etc. To pay tribute to those who died for us, and for victims of malace is little to ask.

And I apologize to if you feel I am too intense about this, but I do care and will continue to care about anyone who dies in such a situation. Remembering them is important...it keeps us aware that we should never take things for granted....life is precious.

That's not too intense, I was actually expecting more comments of the kind. I was surprised how many said it's a pain to have to remember. That's taking it too far really, not everyone has to think about it, just like - not everyone has to celebrate Christmas in a Christain-based country - but at the same time - they shouldn't complain when such events are promoted on TV or talked about each year since it's bound to happen :iconseriousnod:

And what kind of "God" would condone mass murder of thousand sof innocent people? I'm afraid to say I can understand the points and beliefs of all religions cultures except for theirs which often is violent and barberic :disbelief:

People should have respect. You mention, not everyone should have to celebrate Christian holidays or Christmas just because they are in a Christian based country. That statement is true, however, they should have respect for those of us who do and not complain that it is disrespecting them. They should be tolerant and live and let live as they want to be tolerated. I plan to move to Australia next year, if all paperwork gets done finally, and I know there are lot's of Muslims in your country. That's fine. However, Australia, like America was colonized by Christians and it was that way for a loooooong time before so many other religions came to live with us. I feel one should practice what they believe in, but do not tell someone else they cannot because it bothers you. In their country, women have to cover up....so in our country, they should have respect for us as well and not try to stop us from having our religous beliefs just because they are not the same as theirs.

On to the subject at hand, I truly think that the problem lies in the lack of empathy in this current generation graduating highschool and/or in college. Take Zeda (I think that was the poor girls name) in Iran, gunned down by the police in her own country for no reason at all during a peaceful demonstration. We all felt for her and the Iranian people. If you are human, how can you not? Do you think she will be forgotten? I do not. Her name will come up again in the future...she will be remembered. She was a good person and did not deserve to die. Things happen around the world, and like it or not, we are all connected some way or another. To care is important.

Very good statement  not a thing I don't agree with. I for one have no religion but I wouldn't go as far as calling myself Atheist either - still, muslims here have complained about the presence of Christmas Decorations and even the presence of Santa Claus appearing in shopping malls for children's Christmas Photo's :disbelief: and those would be the real victims if Christmas were to be stopped - the children :depressed: it's essentially made for them anyway since the religious ties to Christmas have become less obvious and it really is doing no harm, just families giving each other lots of stuff :D

And on TV I heard of a group of Lebanese activists who repeatedly gang-raped an Australia girl, their excuse? "look at the way she's dressed, she was practically asking for it" - it'll be a sad day on Australia's famous beaches if everyone had to cover themselves up in veils just to make "them" happy :disbelief:

Bottom line, you don't like the culture in America and Australia, then find a boat and get rowing back home to the country of your roots. It's amazing how they feel we should all change for them. They cannot live side by side with anyone different? They should learn. And the story about that girl is absolutely disgusting. I hope they were punished for their actions.

Well, my thought is this. If it's so lousey in your country that you need to come to ours to reep the riches and freedoms you couldn't experience in your "homeland" than shut it. Deal with the fact that the land you came to live and enjoy has culture and religion and if youwant to be here, I don't care what generation they are since landing on your shores....then be tolerant and not make demands that we should change for you. But you see Islam is a slow take over. They do it slowly. Make complaints, get you to make changes here and there and before you know it, we'll all be wearing blankets around us to cover up. We have changed the Christmas Dept in the departmetn stars to be "Holiday Lane" to please them. I think that is wrong. It is our Christmas season, our holiday, our religion and if you dont like it, tough luck, don't farken shop til it's over. They don't feel they need to tolerate anyone. That is why we are dealing with terrorists isn't it? I mean hell, we just caught some here that had 4 different places to bomb planned for the anniversary of 9/11. Isn't that nice of the radicals? To memorialize their terror with a celebration of terror for themselves. If only they could just live and let live. I have heard that NSW will be a muslim state in ten years....I hope that was just a joke, or your country is lost...just like England. Jolly old England is gone to the middle east. I just don't understand it all. Jews and Christians, Budhists, etc. all got along for years and years, why do they have to be such bullies???

I actually noticed it September 2th, by seeing the day on my agenda. The same day everyone was talking about a film about the WTC that was going to appear on TV Sept. 5th.
So there we take the memories of the accident in a very serious way.
