I remember 17000 of pictures for one theme. I have seen 10000. And then DA began to tell "no deviations to display" - although there are 7000 more... This makes me sad

Actually I don't really like to browse trough the popular stuff, because I don't like most of the works. In many cases they arn't really art, just something to become popular. But that's only my sight. ( Damn what a feeling to go busy for some days and then come back and have so many messages )
Yeah, I'm a lot like that, usually only using popular on the rare case I'm looking for something specific. But general browsing, I use newest. Most of the popular stuff is usally fan-art, anime, photo-manipulation or photography...very rarely do I see any of the categories I like in there, in fact, those few times I have made it to popular I think are the only 3D landscapes I have seen make it there
Having a lot of messages is both good, but hard...Nice knowing your hard work is finally getting attention over the years, but unless you want to look like a total twat and not respond to any comments etc, then you have to dedicate hours answering to them, so I don't complain if something gets less than I expected upon submission either, since I see it as a "break"
Well but it's just like that. I always wait 3 days and then browse the last 3 days in the gallerys I'm interested in, because people don't really upload much in there.
But one of the vair mysterious stuff about the popular browsing I won't understand for ages. Search for "Exposure" and then go for "All time". The most pouplar shot out of thousands's mine.
Messages, Attention and stuff're always nice, because it shows to you, that you get something back for your hard work and the hard effort you put into. Well usually I don't spend hours to reply on messages, but I don't have nearly 100k pageviews.

Yeah, true. Many of them usually are more likely to be found in popular, the only exception is if someone is new here, and if they were that good, they would probably find themselves making it to "popular" within their first year.
I know some lucky people who break through the canopy of the main forest of dA with seemingly little effort, just a few very good deviations and almost no community interaction. But since I sucked when I was new here, I had to get attention the hard way like many others
