Wacom Story:
Hi, two stories this time, Firstly, Well I said in my last journal that I wouldn't update again until I actually GOT a tablet, But something I read in another journal has blown the warning whistle to anyone considering spending all that money on a Cintiq that I thought I'd best share with you. To avoid my journal here becoming too long, I won't copy/paste what was said, I'll link you right to it and maybe you could spread the word if the issue concerns you that badly.
It's here [link] by ~microbot23 He's a good artist with two DD's, and has been using Wacom brand tablets for years, so I'm pretty sure he knows what he's talking about when he gives this rather...negative review on Cintiqs :hmm:

So now, reality has set in and I'm leaning back towards the Intuous 3 again, lucky I'm not the sort of person who rushes out and buys something, otherwise I could have blown nearly $2000 right now. I guess I'm more than used to having to look at the screen when drawing anyway, since I've been using a mouse all these years, So I suppose an Intuous 3 is all that's necessary for me anyway, still far better than a mouse lol, I suppose I can pass the considerable savings on to buying Vue 7! :w00t:

Vue 7 story:
Which brings me to the second story, 3D landscapers would be stoked to find out that Vue 7 has finally arrived [link] They only have the more costly, studio-level versions out at the moment, but the cheaper - home-hobbyist versions will soon follow.

Vue 6 is what I have been using for certain works for about a year and a half, it's what I use to make those dramatic, realistic 3D landscapes like "Blushing Bonsai", "Dry Tide" and "Missing Moon's Mystery Mirror" just to name a few...Now Vue 7 promises to help artists take the creation of 3D scenes to all new levels, boasting much sharper-detailed clouds more like those from Terragen2, better Radiosity lighting which renders faster, so you can use realistic lighting on your scenes more often, Endless landscapes that will go on and on, no matter how far into the scene you travel, over 70 plants ready to use, (or over 160 of them if you buy the full deal) More natural-looking terrain (landscape) capabilities, and a whole bunch of other things that I'm willing to go broke over

To get your gears going, here's the teaser video, it was made and animated in this fantastic 3D software, just click the "Quicktime version" link on this page to watch it [link]

Also, here's some features that were mostly, or fully created in Vue 6, they are NOT photo's! :wow:

WOW that was a lot, if you made it this far, then you deserve a Coke.
Yeah...I need to change this footer lol, hope Pepsi is OK?

yes indeed. For some reason I didnt realise you could make such an amazing render with that program. Like if I was traped in 3d Studio universe, and nothing else around was being released...kinda weried.

And trust me, with a tablet, your art will improve a 100% :)

My cousin designs stuff, so I bet it would be a lifesaver (and timesaver!) for him.

And my little niece can't draw so well with mouse and she's always short on paper and other material... with the tablet she wouldn't have all those problems :)

It sure is, I'm sure you watch some space-artists who used Terragen 2, and Vue 7 is pretty much another Terragen 2 :D it only can't render entire procedural planets like TG2, but I don't care since I'd rather keep planets for Photoshop. Vue's learning curve is much easier than Terragen's though, this is my first ever Vue scene [link] which may not be breathtaking, but compare it to my first terragen scene [link] and it's considerably better :XD:

as for the INtuous, none of the stores here stock any, I'll have to order it, then probably wiat several weeks for it to come  that's one thing I hate about living in Australia, anything "not ususal" has to be ordered :bored:

Vue is one heck of a program :D.

I often order my things online, it's very rarley that I buy things in stores at this time. Usually pick stores close by and order online. 1. I get the price down since you order through a webshop and 2. if it breaks you just go down and hand it in :).

you'll be pleased with it!
