So I'm back...from outer space...

Journal Entry: Tue Feb 3, 2009, 6:31 PM
  • Mood: Glad
  • Listening to: Good o'l western Sydney traffic
  • Reading: this huge book on the Universe that weighs a ton
  • Watching: Too many artists to catch up on their deviations
  • Playing: Brawl again...I missed video games.
  • Eating: Toast
  • Drinking: Pepsi
Well, maybe not from outer space, but it sure felt that way being so far from home and my family for so long, not to mention regular internet access too. A few years ago, before joining dA, I wouldn’t have cared about not having internet as I almost never used it. But like many, it’s something that I can’t live without nowadays.
Though it was nice having an extended break from the usual, it was even nicer coming back! I was getting rather bored at my Dad’s place, he’s a nice guy and a hard worker, but because of that, we weren’t able to do anything 5 days a week. I don’t blame him, but being alone in a small complex all day, 5 days a week without any internet to keep me entertained was powerfully boring, especially since all they ever played on daytime TV was Cricket, Tennis or women’s talk shows, along with poorly-animated children’s programs :bored:
As for visiting my best friend while I was close enough, well I didn’t see him once :| I tried contacting him 6 times in the first week I was there, but he was either working, or attending to his girlfriend’s needs. I guess a 15 year friendship can be so easily discarded when one of them finds a partner :movingon:

So with much less there to offer me than I expected, I rather gladly returned back to Sydney, where my family and other important things to me are, besides, most of the jobs I’m interested in are in Sydney anyway. The other Australian cities aren’t really major enough to have effects studios and such. It was nice sleeping in my big, comfy bed again too :sleepy:

This year, provided no drama or bullshit stops me, I plan on doing many exciting things here. Like perhaps making stocks for people to use. Plus I’m thinking about making a dA calendar for next year, with our Solar System as the theme – inspired by an off-dA project I’m collaborating with others on (but it’s supposed to be secret, so there will be no more discussion on that) :shh:

Also, I have been playing around with Vue 7 in my absence, and I might try selling Vue-content on Cornucopia 3D again too, and maybe occasionally making free Vue resources along with my proposed stocks. Also, I’ll sometimes be updating keen Vue-er’s on any resources that me, or fellow pro-level Vue-user ~nukeation may have ;)

well, sorry the trip was now everything you were hoping for, but it sounds like you've returned with a fresh outlook on things, and lots of energy and enthusiasm for the future.

Nice to have you back man but geez bro, you gotta be more creative than just sittin back home whilst visiting your dad. I mean if he's workin all day and you have an entire day to spend, you gotta do something lol.

The life doesn't circle around internet, the internet circles around life, hence it should be a part of it not The part :D.

I know your interests 'n such but bleh mate, sittin watchin tele while beein away from home is kina waste.

Lookin forward on some new shit as well + I'm waiting for the day I read "I've got my own place!!!" + the jobhunt more serious. You're insanley talented so you should get a job without a doubt if you'd try more. You can only get no as worts, just keep goin man.
You're well above averege with what you do, you're way up in the "really damn good" place bro so for you to turn pro is just the paycheck for what you do and you're there!

No go, get a job, get a place to stay at, get a fresh start and a new point in life to pass and star makin a career for yourself :D!!!! THAT'S A FUCKING ORDER!! haha.

Later bro,

Yeah, I could have done more while he was at work, but with what? no car, no money, no sense of direction in this unfamiliar place, no friends or other family nearby? what could I have really done? :(

Today I visited some people who will help me get into the job I'm interested in, preferrably Matte-painting. But it's way to early to start counting on it now :p

At this point in life where you're at you gotta make things happend and not wait for things to happend to you, more or less.
It's good you gettin help with the unemployment part but don't rely to much on those F'ckers to get you what you want.

The jobs you should have are the ones you get with your portfolio, nothing else.
You got your own website yet? If not that might be something to start think about to properly get yourself out there and in contact with the outer world on more levels than through deviantart.
Nothing against DA but using at as portfolio-gallery nah, it's not that professional and strict I think.

What should you've done? - well just go outside, mabye hook up with some random girl and grab a coffie or something, whatever.
Mabye see the surroundings by bike.
Take a swim.
Downtown lookin at some things, just takin in some whatever.

You could've done basicly whatever you'd liked from the things you were able to. It's all in the imaginative mind things happend my friend :D. It'a always easier to think of thins one cannot do contra things that's actually doable!

Don't slack too long before trying to hook up a graphics job, then the opps might fly you by, jumpstart it now while you're still young bro :D. You only live one life, don't grow up regretting things you dind't do, regret things you did instead.

Carpe diem :D.
