As those in the same hemisphere as me head into the depths of winter while the northern hemispherians enjoy their summer () there usually isn't much to look forward to. Shorter days, colder nights and someone's always sniffling
But for the second year running I attended the Supanova convention in Sydney with some of my family members and had a pretty good time. While the convention isn't very big (though I suppose it's about as good as they get in this country) it did have some neat stuff - and people I was able to get my photo taken with several of my favourite fictional characters (as well as some I didn't feel strongly about either way but they still looked cool and clearly took some time with their outfits). Cosplaying seems addictive, thought I didn't do it myself. I knew I could stand out enough just being me Here are some pictures:
That's only a fraction of all the various cosplays I saw there, though these did strike me as some of the better ones, as well as being characters I'm more familiar with too. Everyone was really friendly and you could tell they had been waiting as long to do this as I have. I sure know some in my household I went with that day are already talking about what they'll be next year. I can't help but wonde rif I should give it a shot then too. But who do I go as? Hmm, Cloud seems a little too obvious, but I'm sure there's plenty of sexy game/anime guys I could consider in the 50 weeks left until the next one. Though I'm leaning towards Dante ever since seeing the one there
Other than that I've been juggling several artworks I hope to get up here this month. I wanted to do something to commemorate the recent legalization of same sex marriage in the US (a big step forward for them, now for Australia to do what it always does - copy the US ages after they already did something ). And I've started on that, though it may be a little late I guess Plus there's been some great Wii U games coming out as of late, I haven't even completed Super Smash Bros U before Splatoon and Yoshi's Wooly World came out. Perhaps I might have to draw something inspired by them. This recent outing and some of the things I saw in the artist's alley there has motivated me to do just a little more game-inspired stuff

Well I Didn't Win This Time..
But a Daily deviation is a pretty solid runner up prize :trophy:
Thankyou art (https://www.deviantart.com/art) for featuring it, and for providing this string of contests with very interesting themes over the past few months. I'm not in any of the current ones, character design isn't a strong point of mine, but it'll be interesting to see who wins, and what themes might be selected for upcoming contests if any!
I've been slipping in and out of activity for some time and these contests motivating me to put stuff aside to draw something again have probably been a good influence for me. Too busy with work and other crap I'd gladly cut out of my life if I won the lottery
Son of a Beach!
After being elected as one of many fine finalists in the recent Devious Desktops: Warm Vibes competition I had my fingers crossed over the past week thinking about nothing other than what the results would be. This was the first contest I've heard about in ages I was actually interested in theme-wise and one that was also open to all members around the world so I jumped on it right away!
It paid off as I won one of the three winning positions! :excited: It's been years since I won anything here, and even those were smaller scale contests held by individual users or groups. I'm certain this is the first time I ever placed in one of the big on
Switchi'n It Up
So I've pretty much disappeared without an explanation, drip-feeding some time on here into the forums but not much else on the artistic front. Totally out of character for me whose been persistently active on here since I began. But then again out of character probably describes how I feel. Not necessarily in a "bad" way, but in a way that I feel like my priorities and personality are changing after some realizations about many things this year. In some ways it's been a good thing, I feel myself actually having a desire to start doing a little more than sit in front of a computer all day. Wanting friends, company and activity in my life more
A Sexy Birthday
Wow wow I'm 30 now :faint: I've been having mixed feelings about it for months, on one hand I feel pretty bummed out that my 20's are over forever now which seems to be the only age demographic the world still considers fun and cool. On the other hand it has given me a little kick in the bum when it comes to trying to motivate myself to actually be be more fun and cool, since I spent a lot of the past ten years tirelessly working away on my hobbies, most noticeably my art. It's paid off in many ways and kept me busy during a time I didn't really have much else going on, and I definitely want to keep at it. Yet I want to start living a little

Glad to hear you had a great time at Supanova! You looked cool. I've been wanting to go to a con for ages (even have most of my cosplay stuff ready and everything), but nothing's worked out for me yet. I've tried to go to two so far and the timing just flopped both times. Maybe something will work out next year (or whenever I get a higher-paying job.)
