Big thanks for the DD + Vue stuff + Contests

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 13, 2009, 3:38 AM
  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: My mother playing some slot game
  • Reading: My own journals and descriptions, they're long!
  • Watching: Mah precious pageviews grow *crazy laugh*
  • Eating: Not very much
  • Drinking: Anything that fills for lack of food
Lot's of things to report here, I don't know where to start. So I'll give a big welcome to all my new watchers that I suddenly met through the unexpected success of my Where subscriber's money goes deviation, a big thanks to :iconarchann: for featuring it as my 5th Daily Deviation and the no-less-than 5 people that suggested it, and also a big thanks to the random streak of generosity by :iconneowolf06: that bought me a new subscription, I figured I could at least feature a few of his works to return the favour :handshake:

Thanks a lot to EVERYONE for their recent support!!!

Even excluding that crazyness, it's been unusually eventful for me so far in other things, but many still relate to deviantART and what I do on it. I've been working hard on many personal projects and contest entries that everyone will see as time passes and I submit e'm one by one. But perhaps one of the most outstanding big things I've been spending the past few weeks on is building up material to try and sell over at Cornucopia 3D, the online stock-shop for anyone who like me, has Vue and uses it a damn lot! :D with originality in mind, along with ideas for what the store seems to be lacking, hopefully I'll make more money from making stuff that 3D artists can actually use to fill in for the almost nothing that I get from here (its true, I haven't had a commission offer in about 6 months and got a total of about 3 in all last year :p)
One of these resources will be a set of planets and other universal paraphilia so Vue artists who don't have, or know how to use Photoshop can FINALLY make decent space-scenery using nothing but Vue alone, the best part is, it's all function-based as far as materials go, not a single memory-hungry image-based material is involved. The first of some test-renders is seen below:

While on the topic of Vue, I remember promising :iconnukeation: that I’d promote his personal site <a href=[link]">Quadspinner - highly beneficial information and resources for anyone who wants to breach the limit’s of Vue and create stunning works, it’s more than just a landscape rendering program and the works of both him and myself and our new discoveries (like how I managed to pull of a Terragen2 – esque planet up there) are proof that it can be quite versatile with some creative thinking and a lot of time. When I finally get around to setting up a store account on Cornucopia, I will update every time something new from me comes there, and some free stocks for both Vue and Photoshop are still on my list of things to do here, but I’m so busy with other things that I wouldn’t count on it for a while. For now, Vue users will get a kick out of this, which is also by the same guy!
Creating HyperTerrains

Finally, the reason why I’m busy making one work after another whilist neglecting more important issues is since a whole bunch of contests that I’m interested in just happened to come about at the same time as each other. This part is mainly just for my sake so I won’t forget about them since I’ll see them every time I view my page.

The "Almost definitely" pile:
eARTh contest #4: (not announced yet, must add when it is)
Progress competition: [link] Ends April 30th
Kick your own @ss: [link] ends June 28th
Best in the land: Done!

The "Maybe if I have time" pile:
deviantMAP contest: Done!
Illustration contest: [link] ends June 4th

Man I'm looking forward to that "kick your own @ss" one, I';m already thinking of what older works I should try re-making fr it, and with unlimited entries, I can go nuts, but I'll try and limit myself to three. Maybe one for each "main" category I work in, imagine what old deviations like these below would look like if were done again today with my current skill level :D

See, one character illustration, a scene, and a space work,I may change my mind and perhaps add more later, but I think these might make the coolest remakes so far 8-)

Anyway, this journal is ridiculously long again, I didn't expect too many to read it, but this is a good personal record and reminder for me anyway. So it's time well spent!

This year may not exactly be the year I was looking forward to last year so far, but in your case, everything seems to be looking up and quite optimistic. :) Between the recent DD, these new contests you're going to be entering, this other Vue project you've been hard at work at, things couldn't get any better right now. :D ...Or could they? :O

Either way, definitely looking forward to more of your artwork, and congrats once again on your monumental successes. :)

This year started out terribly for me too, but that was just the suspense befor ethe miracle I guess  so far things as far as my art, and my account go are good, but there's hidden stress in real life as I'm trying to find a job and am relaly not linking the ones I'm eligible for :( but I have no choice really. So yeah - I also have some bad things going on as well, but unless they are really severe, I don't bother mentioning them ;p
