Tropical beach by priteeboy Tropical beach by priteeboy
A lovely tropical island paradise. The water is so clean that it is lighter than the sky. It's hard to beleive that there are still places like this on Earth.I have never been to the tropics so far so I get my inspiration from posters, calanders, travel commercials etc. this has the potential to be a good wallpaper.Hope you like it.

Did you get this from something real? That looks like an entity taking the form of a cloud pillar.

I'm sure I had a similar picture in a calendar a long time ago :plotting: The clouds I got from knowing that in tropical areas, clouds often quickly rise to form dramatic vertical forms since there's a lot of heat coming from below to fuel their growth

Just the area in general, since the seas are very warm in the tropics too :fish:

I sure do! Really good art! I dream often of visiting such places.
Is this digital art? If so, what computer program did you use?

I did this one back in the days where I had Paint Shop Pro 6. Since then I have upgraded to better software like Photoshop and Vue =p

It's so beautiful.. It reminds me of my home before tourism destroyed the beaches. Now it's just dirty water and the beaches are covered in boulders.
Thank you very much for sharing such a lovely piece.

I think that's sad, one would expect local governments to keep on top on any tourist-relate dissues in order to ensure the very thing people came to see is preserved. I'd be very disappointed to expect a beach like this only to arrive and see its beein ruined :( I guess beaches are very volatile environments that come and go relativly quickly compared to other natural features :p

Thanks for faving too :relax:

Same here! :boogie: my brother's hated how I used to win most of the time :fight: :winner: I think the stage most like this on the N64 version (the first one I got...I didn't have the Super Nintendo :() was the Koopa Troopa beach one :relax:

lol it's cool beans. I didn't have super nintendo either, I had N64 too ^_^ and that is the name of the course I think. Did you get your inspiration from it?

Lol, we first had the regular Nintendo, skipped a generation and then got the N64 later =p I'm pretty sure that's the name of the course, it definetily is Koopa-related since there's a big rock in part of the course shaped like one :D

A lot of my art is inspired by video games, but surprisingly not this one...I just drew a lot of tropical scenery in my early to mid teens and I got ideas from travel posters and such. These days I do them less often, not because I don't enjoy them - just because I'm a lot more varied in what I draw these days =p

R.O.F.L.!!!!

HAHAH this is PURE HILARITY!

in comparison to what you're doing now this is so funny! but then again, partly it's because of technology advances too!

It was actually even worse before, but I made some slight editions in early 2007 I think, since by that time - I had already made a sharp imrovement due to almost a year's worth of exposure to the better artists for inspiration here...in fact, I did something similar here roughly a year after this, and though I am doing better than both today, you gotta admit that that one is considerably better than this

The original was done in Paint Shop Pro 6, which even in 2006 was way outdated lol, but for many years it was all I had, then I used Photoshop for the first time around half a year or so after joining dA, I didn't like it at first, but quickly learned it since I had prior knowledge of certain terminology that I slowly aquired from Paint Shop usage (like, I knew what "Opacity, tolerance, anti-alias" and all that meant)

You think this is bad, you should see my older digital art from before I even knew about dA! Not even I have seen them in a few years since they are all saved on floppy disks and are really low-res (even so, each disk could hold a max of 4 tiny artworks) and what kind of computer these days still takes floppy disks? ;p

Funny you should comment this now, since there's a contest going on here where the idea id to remake an older work to show how much you've improved! I'm making a few entries but wasn't sure whether or not I should remake this one, I'm choosing old ones that will have a more dramatic and powerful subject matter when done again with 3 years more experience on me 8-)

No matter how beautiful this marvelous piece of art is, being the paranoid female I am I cannot help to worry that if there's volcanic activity nearby like there seems to be in this scene, maybe a giant wave of death and general unhappiness is coming in the direction of the viewer soon?

Thanks, well there's always that risk on most tropical islands, but man such as Hawaii are very active and so the volcano hardly has enough time to build pressure and release a deadly eruption, since anything it has is constantly being spewed out ;)

I'd be more worried about jellyfish or sharks being in the water

This was done using a mix of Paint shop Pro 6 (which is really old by todays standards, and I never use it anymore) and Photoshop...no 3D work here...didn't have any 3D programs at the time this was made :(

I stert off with the sky fading from dark blue to light blue, followed by clouds (which are more difficult than they appear) the water came next which was plain aqua and then I did the rocks in plain grey. Finer details were done with techniques that your program may/may not have. Close objects such as the palm tree and hut were done last. I hope that helps
