Summer Paradise by priteeboy Summer Paradise by priteeboy
Looks like something sweet, or fruity :lick: Either way I wanted this to to be one inviting sunset scene and I quite loved the colour combination for this year's one. This is the seventh annual artwork I've made of this kind, all part of my yearly birthday submissions and I managed to still be on time again. Talk about punctuality (or not having a life :paranoid:) It was hard to think of a title, so I took one from a song I currently like which fits the mood perfectly 8-)

Created with Vue and Photoshop as I often do. I originally had a very purple colour scheme in mind for this with only trace amounts of blue and pink involved. It looked pretty cool but then after some radical changes and experimentation with the colours I ended up with this which was very different yet more fitting to the bright, warm sunset mood I wanted. I also wanted somewhat a minimalistic approach which I tend to prefer for island type scenery relax:

Past versions are listed oldest to newest here:

2006 | 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011

I suppose it looks eerily surreal, like this island could be the only piece of land on this whole planet :O

Hey! I really enjoy your sky and I see you said you made it in photoshop.

Just curious, did you paint it digitally or is it a photo-manipulation? (A tutorial would also be extremely appreciated! :D)

Great work, hope to see more.

This one was just painted digitally, though I have done manipulated skies before when I wanted something more real-looking :D

So very nice! we are slipping into Autumn here, not my favorite time of the year, only thing worse is Winter--it is so devoid of life and motion and warmth. Spring and Summer--Birth
(or Rebirth) and growing (and enjoying). Your Art is Truly ART.

Autumn is like a second spring, where every leaf is a flower :meditate:

I understand, it can be disappointing, I set up a garden last Autumn which meant I had to wait six months (up until just recently) before I started seeing any growth or change in it at all. But if any good come sout of the colder months - I at least got a good night's sleep, and got to wear my favourite clothes :la:

gaah you're amazing. I love the idea of celebrating your birthday this way. And it's like a timeline of what a person can do to improve in less than a decade. I'm really inspired by this. So happy birthday to you and your DA! :woot:

On the technical side, I'm curious as to how you made the sky...is that ALL painted in Photoshop or you played around with cloud materials in Vue to get this look? I've been trying to achieve this kind of lighting for days now. (It's only been 2 weeks since we started studying Vue and I'm struggling with the lighting, ahah! Colors, why you hunt me so??)

Anyway, it's really lovely. Keep up the good work with these :)

Yeah, I was even going to make a long running theme of it first time around, but after the first two I thought - why not =p

The sky was all done in Photoshop. I have achieved similar effects in Vue before (using various layers of very transparent standard clouds for a "gassy" look) but that takes me longer. I used a standard atmosphere here and just had a plain burgundy sky at the time of rendering which I knew I was just going to postwork in later ;p

Usually I use multiple light sources for an artistic or interesting effect, especially in darker scenes like this.

Ahaah, man you should make a tutorial. @__@ I've been trying to do something of this kind of lighting that can change the look of the water but, alas, I fail. haha.

Thanks for the insight though, hopefully I can post some Vue works that are actually fun to look at. x)

Extraordinary. I really, really like the water and the colors. The only thing that it seems not to fit so well is the planet on the top. But anyway it's a wonderful image, which gives me a happy feeling. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks a lot. The colours alone make this one of my personal favourites :) Yeah I had a hard time fitting some planets in, even now I think I maybe should have tried a different type of planet, but in a way I needed them to not blend into the sky too much ;p

They would probably be moons. In these ones I was less concerned about realism and more about just making a pretty scene, so they can be whatever the viewer thinks =p
