Saying what most of you guys are thinking ;) The good thing about dA is that its free for all. Your works aren't sent through an esteem-crushing judge panel. And nor are you charged to be able to submit as much as you want :la:

But it's so easy to abuse, while there should remain no minimum quality standards here, I think users themselves really should think about what they are posting...

:bulletpurple: Is that doodle on the back of your crumpled math exam really your best drawing?
:bulletblue: Do you really think applying a Photoshop filter to a stock image constitutes as "photo-manipulation?"
:bulletgreen: Are your watchers really interested in seeing 20+ renders or photo's of the same thing from every angle imaginable?
:bulletyellow: Don't you think too many WIP's will make people not-care about it anymore by the time you're done?
:bulletorange: Are movie, anime and video-game screenshots really fanart?
:bulletred: Is your beloved pet seriously the most interesting thing you can take a photo of?

This isn't a stand against "bad art". It's a stand against "non-art". You can't complain if someone can barely draw, especially if they're young or new to it, so long as they try - good for them. But there's tons of things that are not even bad-art - they're just boring, annoying and simply a waste of dA's server space. Yeah your deviantART account isn't a "portfolio" (for most), but surely your serious attempts deserve better than to be drowned out by screenshots and random pet photo's :ohnoes: Your gallery doesn't have to be a representation of your best work only, but trust me - it's better if it is ;)

Before asking questions In case this becomes popular...
:bulletwhite: It took me a couple of hours to make. I used Photoshop to make the individual art/frames and strung them together in Animation Shop 2 which you probably haven't heard of since it's as old as this site itself and I'm not making tutorials, just saying :p
:bulletwhite: To use it, copy and paste the thumb code (lower right near all the comment/fave/etc stats) into your journal or shoutboard. If it doesn't work then either you didn't copy the whole thing or you're not giving this wonderful site enough of your soul money and you'd better get a premium membership now! :shakefist:

Title Changed used to be "Don't Submit Crap" but a better title was suggested by ~Armonah

All artwork and animations in my gallery remains my own copyrighted property. Do not re-upload this stamp or use it beyond the intended, typical stamp purpose.

Don't take it to heart. The quality of one's work isn't the complaint here. It's just what they submit. What a mean is that I've never had a problem with amateur art - we've all been at that stage and I think those who bitch about it are kinda eletist :greetings: But certain things are kinda redundant beyond a point. A few photo's of family/friends/pets/stuff the artists likes etc are understandable. But dozens of them, or even hundreds when the artist can do so much better with their work seems kinda like destroying a gallery that they could have presented better because they are better than that. WIP's are fine too - but beyond 3 or 4 they get tiresome to many of the artist's watchers. I've seen good work get less interest than it otherwise would because the artist bored their watchers with it already by posting a dozen WIP's of it. Even I stop caring by that point even if the work is decent :bored:

Well, they're OK I guess since there's just one of each WIP. IT just gets annoying after the artist has submitted three or four of essentially the same artwork, it kinda makes the viewers bored of it before it's even done :bored: But one or two is fine :)

I agree. I only see the same few dozen stamps that I really agree with. Most others are just stupid or are just quoting sayings that aren't even theirs. It is too easy for people to get popular off them

Thanks for faving! :)

Once in a while is alright, I just think it's pointless when people upload dozens of them

I agree too, and I can't even un-fave deviations in storage too. It's annoying seeing them there :frustrated:

Who needs to store deviations anyway? the way I see it - if an artist feels like they should have to hide their work then they shouldn't waste space on dA by having here at all :P
