My first, of what will be hopefully 4 entries to the The ultimate fandom contest so before I start with my long-ass description, I'll give the rundown as requested by contest rules:

-Ultimate fandom contest3: video games (already gave a link up top)
-Gaming franchise: Sonic the Hedgehog (can fit many of the games, but more likely Sonic Adventure)
-Environment or character: Character (I will do an environment next)
-My description: read below...

At first, I wanted to avoid the temptation to draw an already popular game character, but really, nearly all the games I am a fan of are either Sonic or mario-related lol. So if I forced myself to draw a game I didn't care about simply because less will do it, well it would defeat the purpose of fanart now wouldn't it? Plus, I just realised I havn't made any Sonic-related fanart in a year and a half! oh the time goes faster than Sonic himself
In recent years, Sonic has gotten bad press from half of his fanbase, who think that the newer 3D games are butchering the franchise and many former fans just think Sonic would be better off rolling over and dying. Well, I agree that the old ones are definetily more "fun" and have more replay value. But I don't think the new ones are all that bad, But still - I'm hanging on for the day when Sonic explodes in popularity when Sega finally brings out what we all want...a 3D rendition of some of the best older games

And now for the technical details. Both Sonic and Dr Eggmam had their poses based off found images, I got the idea for Sonic's pose from a screenshot of Sonic Adventure, and Eggman's is from the "Sonic-X" anime show that seemed to go out as quickly as it came in (mind you, Eggman was really holding a control stick to one of his machines, but I thought the Emerald would be more appropriate) However, the lighting and colour scheme on the characters, along with the background was all purely my idea, I wanted the action-packed movie-poster sort of thing going on here
