My first proper attempt at designing some fashion I won't be making a new habit out of this, so my watchers need not worry about me veering off onto a new artistic path entirely, there is also a related piece similar to it in a vest form here
I created this since when browsing shops and online for leather jackets I was pretty disappointed at how bland many of them were, especially for someone like me who enjoys much more "spicy" clothing, particularly in leather jackets (the epitome of coolness and sexiness) Inspired partly by the rock/punk and Jrock scene, but also from clothing styles seen on videogame characters and anime, which I often wished existed for real, I tried to make mine unique to them though and something that could still be wearable in a real life situation
I created it with the motivation in mind that I'll go and find someone who can actually make a real one based off my design and hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg, I wanted to upload it to my gallery here first since that's a good way of proving its mine and it doesn't hurt to show another side of my creativity
Deciding on which of four colours I liked most was hard, the original design is the white one, but after doing all versions I ended up liking red the most. I think red is the only bright colour that doesn't look ridiculous in leather, hence why the rest are black, grey and white.

Same, I have like...five leather jackets (though only two I like enough to wear out, the others were bought years back when I had plainer tastes, I should really sell e'm and use the money towards something much flashier )
I don't do any ladies stuff though since girls have enough choice already You girls have got so many boots and jackets to choose from, I feel the need to fill the void in the mens fashion area.
Muahaha! I have 8! : P But! I am sharing them with sister, sometimes we even fight for them. Leather jacket is something what I wear every day, even if it's cold outside. XD
We girls always need to look pretty and attractive for men!
Hmm..so, as I can see you support the men fashion, good!
This jacket has been a huge source of motivation for me: first time I saw this was last March, right around the time I started going to the gym and eating better. I've lost 110lbs so far, and have another 50 to go. Once I lose the rest of the weight, I want to try to make a jacket just like this, in red, for when I'm riding my motorcycle.
Thanks for sharing this artwork. I promise I won't copy it or anything, but some elements of the design I'd like to use, if that's ok.
That's good to hear. One more person in shape is one less using up a hospital bed prematurely And thanks for not copying it entirely if you make one, since if an original is ever going to be made, I'd really like to be the owner of the first one Came so close with finding a maker, we agreed on a price and everything. But they dropped out at the last minute before I could pay them (suppose it's better than after I paid them, but I'm still incredibly bummed about that ). Hell if you can make a decent enough version of your jacket idea, I may even commission you to make mine
The sleeve/back design is what I'm going to try to make. First I need to find a jacket that will be workable though!
I haven't worked in leather in a long time, but I figure it might be doable. If not, I'll try to find someone in NYC that can help. Will keep you posted!
There are quite a few jackets in existence that have "ribbed" sleeves and backs, so I guess I can't hold a copyright on that on it's own unless the bumps are the exact same proportions, locations and amounts I do know there is a popular re-creation of the "Fight Club" jacket worn by Brad Pitt in that movie that's commercially available and has similar sleeves.
Be prepared for a monsterous price quote though. The place I almost had it done at asked for nearly $2'000 This may make me sound loaded, but really I just get an average (sometimes below average) wage but fortunately happen to be a really good saver When I thought I was going to get this, it was motivation enough for me to avoid all other unnecessary purchases for months so I could justify buying it Then again, it depends on who you ask. I asked a reputable motorcycle gear place based in California I think (seems to be a thriving leather community there...too bad I'm all the way over in Australia ) as I wanted one that was thick sturdy and high quality that could last a lifetime, not something cheap that would fall apart after a few years Leather is really not something that should be short-cutted on and I would have considered that money well spent if I had a feeling the jacket would outlive me
Yeah, I seldom come across store-bought jackets I find very interesting. I gues sthere just isn't much market potential for really flashy designs like this since the main people who would buy them may be entertainers/performers. The average Joe may not want all the attention that wearing one would bring, nor want to pay several hundred dollars for it (and one this details made in good quality likely would be over the $500 mark, I'd be skeptical of the quality if I got something like this for less than that )
Though I have recently found two existing jackets I liked enough to buy, one I already got and the other I have to wait 'till it comes into stock again But my real goal is to have this
Yeah. The main purpose of these kinda outfit is to attract attention, and not everyone wants to attract attention. Even I sometimes tone down my clothing taste just so I won't be such a center of attention in the streets.
Oh my god I wanna see wanna see!! Take photos of them of draw yourself in them
Actually, I know a leather tailor who knows how to make these kinda things, but as you've said, it takes very long, the quality isn't guaranteed, it's expensive (though using pleather would greatly help), and lastly, even if I got my hands on them, I doubt I would wear it anywhere outside my....bedroom. Same goes for the Newrocks
Have you got anything for ladies?
