One of eight submitted peices from the first artpack that #Attrius has released in a long time and thus was given the theme Rebirth because of it. There's some very nice works for anyone interested in this genre to look at
This unusual, colourful and almost symmetrical formation looks quite unnatural but similar do exist for real in the Universe. Called a Planetary Nebula, given the name since in the early days of observation the best one could see was a fuzzy circular dot, their generally round-ish shapes especially as viewed from side-on were mistaken for planets. They are in fact the remanants of deads stars, but not ones that had a death large and violent enough to go off with a bang (Supernova) but rather the less commonly illustrated normal "Nova" alone, the star expends is fuel eventually and layers of often bubble-like gas clouds start ejecting out from it forming very dramatic and surprisingly well-structured shapes All that's left behind is a white dwarf - the small glowing core of the star that used to be in the middle of it all. It'll eventually fade into nothing but the gas and dust all around will provide building materials for the next Solar System. Planets are seen forming via rotating masses of dust and rocks to the right to show this (but realistically it wouldn't happen so soon afterwards )
There's a little science lesson for ya anyway and also what I think is a rare but beautiful subject among the space art galleries
