Morning Messenger

If there's something I always look forward to leading up to my annual birthday submission - it's trying to think up a fresh new colour scheme on a tried and true concept for a better-than-life landscape piece. Usually starting out in frustration and desperate thoughts on how I'm going to top last year's, to a breakthrough palette I often find accidentally that makes me fall in love with the emerging plan

This one being given an early morning mood to it, as each year I alternate between morning, day, evening and night. Sunrise and sunset scenes always lend themselves to a variety of possible colour experimentation so I took that opportunity to come up with this. The comet idea was also a late bloomer, after having tried a lot of other space phenomenon like a nebula, star clusters and a huge ringed planet - none just really seem to fit the composition well, and time was running out so I needed something visually impressive but relatively easy that I haven't done a lot of before, and so - a comet was chosen and I have no regrets
