Mediterranean Village by priteeboy Mediterranean Village by priteeboy
This was my exhibit peice for the Luminarium's current artpack which was freestyle this time so people were free to illustrate (or musically compose) whatever they wanted. Those who care can see it here [link] :greetings:

So with it having no theme one would wonder why I didn't go for some crazy space scene or whatever. I had plenty of potential ideas but I decided it would be better for me to try something still landscapey but not like what I'd normally do just to stretch my digital painting skills a bit further. I'd say I didn't have too much trouble doing it, but it was painfully slow since I was indecisive about a lot of things and procrastinated a lot too ;p But oh well, I did it and I'm proud of it :bow:

There's a progression series of this work at Village: progression :nod:

All artwork in my gallery remains the copyrighted property of myself and is not to be used, modified or sold without my permission

Yeah I often like to draw "ideal" locations, as the real world doesn't have enough of them ;p

Oh wow, this is a fantastic piece of work. *A* The depth is amazing, and shown very well with the road and sizes of the boats, and wfkjsd all of it is so detailed!

I know this is going to sound like a weird question, but would you possibly allow me to use this image as a non-profit website banner? I'd be sure to credit you, and even have a link back to this page if you wanted!

Glad you appreciated the depth in it. I certainly tried to accomplish a good sense of scale :handshake:

I'm afraid I don't allow people to use my work as an actual part of their website itself though free of charge. Only features (like on blogs and stuff) Sorry ^^;

You definitely succeeded in my opinion, every time I look at it I see new details that I didn't spot before that just add to the depth and make it more amazing. *3* <3

And that's perfectly alright! But, you said "free of charge." Does this mean I can possibly purchase the right to use this work on my Weebly? o3o Or no?

It usually means that ;p Others have done so before. It's just to make sure I get my work's worth, and to weed out those who don't want it that badly (you know how the internet is, people will take anything for free, but much less at a cost :paranoid:) I don't really care though, I've asked for stuff in the distant past too :XD:

Well I wouldn't ask to use it if I wasn't willing to pay you for it. =u=~ It'd look very nice on a banner for a character of mine, you see. :u <3 And I like it when my weebly pages look nice~

Are you interested in selling me the right to use the art, or no~? o3o I'm fine either way, I don't want to make an artist do anything they might not want to. xD

Well the lowest I charge for such services is $50. I've done it for less before and often ended up regretting it :doh: So I'm not sure if that's within your range or not :shrug:

Well I'd usually consider that price, but as of this moment I don't have that much in my possession. D; Ah well, I'll have to come back when I have that much to spare. orz

If I may ask, what happened when you charged less for people to use your work?

Eh, nothing big, but sometimes people only want something if it hasn't been used on something similar before (who wants a webpage or book cover that looks the same as someone else's) Plus there's just simply myself feeling ripped off afterwards ^^;

youve never played final fantasy 7?? ...thats where costa del sol is from. its a resort town right by the beach. and the layout of your town is much like the layout of costa del sol in FF7 - even the archway thing. thats all :D

Ahh so THAT's the name. I remember my inspiration behind this was from the workd of a well-known traditional artist who painted a lot of scenes from that area (or at leats inspired by it :D)

Wow! Your mastery of digital painting is as clean and professional as a 3D rendering! You always put a great deal of imagination, detail, effort, and love into your work, which makes it such a joy to look at. It is inspiring to see your works come to life. (*^-^*)/ :heart:

Thankyou! I did try to make this one look as 3D as possible, I do generally prefer really clean, formal looking digital art - there's enough speedpaints out there I reckon ;p

Glad you saw all that in this :)

Ok, THAT is a good place to visit. :)

Seriously it just looks like such a nice place to be.

I especially like the island in the background.

Shame it's in the Mediterranean though. Those places are always too hot for me. :(

Lol, I've never been myself but I can imagine the weather wouldn't be too much different than where I live anyway. But even so I'm sensitive to heat and would only ever enjoy it if I knew pools or beaches were always conveniently close :XD: Then again, near the sea like in this is always cooler. I live too far from it myself so Summer is always a real stinker :dead:

This is lovely! How did you do the stones and the roof of the building? :o

:iconpriteeboy:
priteeboy Featured By Owner Jan 15, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
The stones I drew on a flat overhead like view, and duplicated heaps of times to make a very large pattern of them which I then warped into place using "perspective transform" and then did some painting over, the roof tiles were just done manually though :painter:
