The first of what will probably be a few entries to the
Kick your own ass competition, the purpose of which is to re-do an older deviation to show your progress, you don't need the most mind-blowing new work, just to show the most significant improvement over time, hopefully I have, or the past 135 weeks and 6 days of practicing have been a BIG waste of my precious youth that could have been spent outside frollicking in the sun!

The old one on the left is here
[link] for the record - up until I submitted this entry and the new version which is here
[link] - it had gained only 13 comments and 23 favourites...Proof that even good artists have to start off with poor quality art that gets poor amounts of comments and faves, never get too discouraged, just keep on practicing!

Having said that, I have a ways to go, particularly in terms of characters since there's the added issue of getting correct anatomy and perspective. There are some parts of the new version I'm still not fully fond of, but I spent long enough on that already and all that matters is that it's considerably better than the old one
mandatory information for contestCategory - Digital art (both are 2D illustrations, no 3D or photo's used in either!)
Self critique:
Still struggling with correct anatomy and proportions, my progress in learning that is slower than my progress in many other aspects of art such as light colour and finding a nice composition. But in all fairness - human figures are hard to draw especially if you are like me and they only make up one of many different things you like to draw, they would be much easier and faster to do for the many that
only do this sort of stuff. Still can't see myself making any money off character deisgn or illustration, my skills are strongly tied to scenery instead, but I love this sort of fantasy-character stuff and want to improve in this too
Artwork and character designs are made and copyrighted by me, please do not steal my images
You could progress this much, especially during the earlier attempts where most of the primary learning is done, it's almost like an exciting journey of discovery, that's why I still keep a lot of my old works
