Emo Cloud is being emo Oh but who cares, we love him
It's hard to believe my last Cloud Strife fan-art is 48 deviations and over a year back! Being my favourite, I just had to draw him again and rekindle the interest of those who are watching me for my fan-art, just to let them know that although they are rare (due to my variety) that I still havn't given up on them. In fact, I might be just a little more motivated these days because I'm getting better at it and a little faster too...Normally I would have spent all week on something like this, but I managed to get it done over the course of a few days and will hopefully get speedier as I go along
This was originally just an excuse tp practice drawing semi-realistic faces as that's normally the part of any character - fan-art or original that I always struggle with. But I think it's good enough to submit. Now I havn't enabled the proper critique feature as normally once Im finished a work, I don't like having to go back, but still - crits and suggestions are still welcome, I'll just keep them in mind for next time
Oh, and it's not neccessarily based on any particular part of the game/movie. I just wanted something with a bit more emotion in it
Drawn entirely in Photoshop, no textures or 3D used in here I'm also aware that there's someone elses Cloud fan-art by the same name, but a song I listened to when drawing this had that word and it just fit the mood so well
EDIT: Re-did the eyes since the iris/pupil was too big before. Made the lips stick out beyond the edge of his face a bit to give them a bit more volume too. Also made a slightly more varied shading in the hair and thinned out the ends a bit. Thanks for your suggestions!

His lips look a little flat. They seem like they should stick out of the face a little in the view that it's at. The teeth look a bit flat as well, but I can't think of how to fix it at the moment... Other than that, this is a great piece; I can't believe you didn't use textures in this!

That is so gorgeous! I love the textures. That's something I have so many problems with. And the shading on the skin! It's just so beautiful! Amazing work~ His hair is marvelous as well~

Lol, I was actually concerned about the opposite problem. I first drew the area under the lower lip darker but it made them too sticky-outy lol, I think this is the first time I've drawn the teeth visible on anyone too, so yeah - I tried to make them a bit discreet here :buctooth:
I was tempted to speed up the process by using textures, but I had some old custom brushes I made a couple of years ago that even though are no-longer useful for many of my newer art, I actually put some to good use here for subtle details (like on the skin, which was too plastic-looking beforehand )

Thanks. In this it wasn't s much the texturing that bothered me, but I will admit I've been doing skin and hair for the past few years but this and just a few other recent works are the only ones where I've started to be happy with the results...It does take a while to get good at

This feature was brought together by my watchers and hours of browsing galleries for inspiring pieces that have gone unnoticed. Here are the results, one hundred beautiful photographs with under one hundred favorites. Let's give these artists the attention they deserve <3
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Glad you like the colours in his hair, just made it a bit "cooler" on the dark side. It looked very plain before adding that
