Five Golden Rings by priteeboy Five Golden Rings by priteeboy
My last-minute rush for Christmas this year wasn't spent dodging angry crowds at the shopping centre (I'm not that dumb ;)) But getting my annual Christmas artwork done and ready for upload before the holiday was over. Even if it meant staying up late enough on Christmas Eve to hear sleigh bells from those drunken partiers down the road :paranoid:

Anyway, I think the reference to Christmas is more in the title than the artwork itself. But you can see where I'm coming from. Plus It was fun doing something gold and glittery, unique among the mostly "blue" Christmas submissions I've done in the past :)

Do not use, edit or sell my artwork without my permission

There's something about how you do these that's incredibly captivating. I keep looking at them and i have no clue how you did these or what program you used to make them; makes it a big mystery to me i guess! What program do you use for these; i really want to know! Just giving my appreciation!

This one was done in Photoshop, as are most others. Sometimes I do use some 3D software though, but that wasn't needed here :)

im not shure about the night side of the planet, but the rings, the colors, the mood, are amazing!

And yet the night side of the planet was about half of all the work involved

It was hard trying to get the lights to look brighter than real life, yet still feel somewhat realistic. It was harder still to create the effect of lights diffusing through the thinner clouds but being completely obscured by the thicker ones (if you were wondering what some of those dark areas of nothing were ;)) I was pretty happy with the rest though, considering I had less than a day to make this :D

Gold during the holidays works very well :nod: I think I like it more than the typical red/green combo ^^;

Wallpaper use is OK. And yes, not as stereotypically Christmas-themed as my other ones from past years. But I've been meaning to do one like this for a really long time :)

This one is really impressive. Especially the vast space in the background is done just damn great and I really love the way you did the rings and the planet there:D Absolutely wonderful piece. I would love to see that from a spaceship and fly towards that golden star....Wonderful christmas picture :XD:

Thanks for the compliment  I think minimalism was the key to the background looking good (and not being a distraction) just a simple nebula with fewer stars works way better when a close-up planet is meant to be the main focus  I'd sure love to see such a view too :jawdrop: Thanks for faving!

You are very welcome:D I think that you are right. In that minimalistic form the background perfectly works as a background and does not distract from the planet and the rings, which are what you set the focus on;) That was the background worked as what it was meant to be...and nonetheless it looks wonderful cause it gives the picture such a great, vast depth. It is just logic too that you do not see too much of the stars in there. Since the light coming from the star and reflecting on the rings "overcasts" the light coming from the stars and nebulas in the distance. Very well done at all once again. I totally enjoy every single picture from you. Thanks again for another year of awesome stuff :XD: Merry Holidays ;)

Ah, I love glittery things. I particularly like space art that has lights on the dark side of the planet from the cities. :)

Maybe some big mutant bird in some alien tree  Metallic colours usually need pretty strong highlights to capture their reflective nature

I love it! It's beautiful and different, Christmas-y without being garishly so.

I don't suppose there's any chance of us seeing a wallpaper version? *puppy eyes* Only this is so beautiful I'd love to see it on my desktop—but my screen is too big to use this deviation.

Thanks! Yes this year I avoided the many Christmas Cliche's I usually fall into :giggle:

Well I only give wallpapers by special request. Even then, only up to a certain size. The puppy dog eyes only work when it's on a kitten

Puppy eyes on a kitten? :o That sounds vaguely disturbing. Maybe I've had too much eggnog. >.<
