This was created for Desktopography 2009 - a collaborative wallpaper project, his year's pack launched only the day before I submitted this, so check it out while it's still fresh [link] The theme was "Nature" and both a standard screen and widescreen wallpaper of this is available among many other great backgrounds. However this vertical version is what I consider to be the original :deviation:

It was also an experiment on using Vue's "Godrays" feature, a powerful tool good for simulating bursts of light through dark skies, I couldn't fully grasp how to make good distinctive ones until watching =nukeation's video tutorial on it. So props to him too :)

What I wanted to make here is something that has been a reasonably popular category of digital art for a long time now called "Terraspace" - where a 3D landscape (often made in Terragen, but as I showed - Vue works fine too) would then be combined with a celestial sky to make a nice looking scene...But the disappoining fact is the few artists that could do this stuff well have been dead for along time here, Good Terraspace art is hard to find these days on dA, given how the artists were much more productive only a few years ago...So this is mine, making up for the lack of others. No special concept or attempt to be original here. Just carrying the dead weight of former Terraspace artists :tombstone:

Created in Vue 7 and Photoshop, as usual =p

Artwork made and copyrighted by me and is not to be use din any form of digital or printed media without permission. Wallpapers of mine and other's work are for personal screen use only!

You have some really impressive visions with your planetary art pieces... Excellent use of lighting and unique scenes that set you way apart from so many other planetary scenes I've seen.

Thanks for the compliment :) Yes, the genre of space-based artwork is surprisingly common here, so I make as much effort as I can to keep mine unique from the many others people are creating here. Sometimes that means sacrificing realism, but I prefer art that looks interesting more than realistic :D

I think you keep yours realistic, if not necessarily grounded. Does that make sense? Yours has an artsy feel to it, which I guess could be called fantasy, but you cna see things in nature that look just as startlingly impressive.

Thanks! Sometimes I like to imagine what the sky would be look with some nearby worlds up there - much more interesting :D

There's good quality art in both digital and traditional, sometimes lesser-drawn stuff needs to be searched for harder though, but there's a good artist to be found for everything here

You must have a beautiful mind to create art like this. I could look at your space art all day. The nebula at the top left is my favorite part of this one.

Thanks! I do have a ot of imagination when it comes to scene ideas  The nebula I think is still one of my best, I must admit it was partially a fortunate accident since I've had trouble trying to create another one like it since :O_o:
