All that Glitters by priteeboy All that Glitters by priteeboy
Made this for fun as I needed to take a break from another work that's been taking forever and has become quite a bore by now (will still finish it though and will likely be my next submission) Though something simple I was expecting to do within the day just as a break kinda got more detailed and advanced and after a few days I wound up with this. I don't consider any of the time wasted though :D

I was inspired by a number of sources. Firstly an astrophotography exhibition I saw recently where some images revealed such unimaginably dense clusters of stars that looked like craft-glitter was just poured all over the image. Though mine became more like an irregular galaxy than a star cluster - both are rarely represented as the main subject in space art.
The landscape was inspired by artists like Roger Dean or dA's own =Gate-To-Nowhere (who tragically dosn't seem to be producing anymore :() as well as some crazy Terragen/Mojoworld renders Ive seen over the years :spin:

Rock pillars modelled in Cinema 4D and added to a Vue-landscape which was rendered and painted over for a nicer effect. The space area was done in Photoshop.

Do not use, edit or modify any of the images in my gallery on personal sites, galleries, accounts etc without my permission. Blog features are fine if credit is given

Nice use of gold here. Spread it just thin enough to glow without being blinding. Awesome job!

Some of those would look cool in an aquarium I think :D I'm sorta reminded of the weird rocks in the Final Fantasy movie (not the one based of FF7, the earlier more "realistic" one, there's a scene where the main woman is in a desert surrounded by cool looking rocks =p)

Yeah, my initial plan was to create an underwater scene, but I'm still to new to Houdini, so I have problems with keeping my had around how the software works. Anyway, it a beginning :)

love the sky.
I mean it. If I could go there, I'll spend my night laying down and just staring at the sky.
I always love space since I was a kid, and seeing this pic makes me want to stare and stare and stare...
it makes me go sighing all the time. LOL...

It would certainly put a new meaning to "camping out under the stars" - there's so many that you wouldn't be able to sleep

Oh well, might as well just stay up and count them :dummy:

Ever since I was little I've loved to look at pictures of other planets and pretend
that I was there. Wondering what life would be like. You have such a great gift.

GOD bless

Thanks! I did the same thing sometimes, I found the illustrations in certain books to be very inspiring :omg: I wouldn't be surprised if that's what kept me interested most of the time :XD:

When I was little I couldn't understand why grownups read books without pictures. As far I was concerned a book without pictures
was no good at all! :)

Now that would be an interesting planet to live on, and probably the richest ;P I love the strange rock shapes, they just add that little bit more to the image! :D
And the golden sand looks so soft :meow:

Yep - all that value just sitting there with no-one to go after it. Goes to show gold is only worth something if you can obtain it

I loved making those weird rock pillars, it was like nothing I've done in a landscape before 8-)

Hmm, maybe there was a movie or game with something like this in it. It does give me a nostalgic feeling a bit even though I haven't seen anything like it other than the one artwork it was inspired from =p

Wow, this has got to my top favourite of your works thus far. Mind you, I'm still yet to lurk through the rest of your gallery and ninja fave some more. I'm more partial towards bright, colourful space scenes but this is insane.

Space documentaries are amazing :D though I must admit now that I'm older I can notice the graphics in many are rather poor, the best images are usually Hubble photographs, my inspiration for this surprisingly was from an image taken from the ground though :omg:
